After discovering the dismembered body of his girlfriend, crime journalist Lewis Hicks (Gooding) finds a diary, seemingly left by the murderer, detailing a list of his next victims and the gruesome methods he will use to kill them. Realising his own name is on the list, Hicks must use all of his experience to track down the serial killer in a desperate race against time before the madman strikes again.
